Beauty Box: Introductory beautecobox

I used to subscribe to GlossyBox, TopBox and Loose Button's Luxe Box in Canada, all of which I cancelled a few months before I moved to England. I was looking forward to beauty box shopping when I got here. One of the new boxes I found and thought I'd try out is the beautecobox.

One of the reasons I wanted to try the beautecobox is because you're given a choice in what products you receive. Each box is £10 (plus shipping...I can't remember?) and comes with five products. Every month you choose from a few different boxes in their boutique, all with slight variations on each other. This month, each box came with two full size Neal Wolf products while the three other products varied. I was really pleased with the options and since I'm not into mixing up my skincare I chose the box with two full size make up products from Art Deco. I've yet to try anything out but I'll definitely be doing a review of the Neal Wolf products as I'm always intrigued by new hair products, especially anything that claims to be voluminizing.

July Beauty Favourites

It's the end of July and time for monthly favourites! I've been really looking forward to this post since I've had the opportunity to try so many products since arriving in the UK. I've found many new loves but I've restrained myself and managed to narrow it my list down to the products I've had the full four weeks to test (as in wear almost every day) and confirm that yes - they are amazing. Their amazingness (not a word I know) must be shared. Excuse the poor lighting, it's a wee cloudy today and I'm still working out the best places for photos. Hope you enjoy!

The traveller's best fitness weapon

When I was packing to move overseas it occurred to me that my set of 3, 5, and 8 pound hand weights PROBABLY weren't going to travel well, particularly after I had to remove several articles of clothing and shoes just to keep my checked luggage under 50 pounds...and then do the same for my carry on baggage. I am by no means a light packer.

That being said it might interest you to know that about a year and a half ago I lost 25 pounds. It wasn't for the first time (I'm not proud), but it is the first time I've managed to keep it off (I am proud) and I wasn't about to let that change because I couldn't carry my damn hand weights or because none of my Canadian workout DVDs weren't going to work in the UK (I love you Jillian Michaels!).

Enter the saviour of my sanity (no workouts make K. a dull girl) and the traveller's best fitness weapon - the exercise cable (observe above).

Living the dream?

I probably should have started rambling sooner. My fiance is set to join me in England in less than a week (I've been here for five weeks) and his impending arrival has been making me think about the first few days I was here in England...Let's all take a walk down memory lane together shall we? (You may now visualize me pensively staring off into the distance with a fade out to my dreamy recollection).

My jet plane...well technically not MINE.
First off, nobody needs my life story, but in a nutshell, I'd been dreaming about moving to England for about six or seven years before I ended up here. I was lucky enough (actually it probably wasn't luck) that my fiance was also all for moving to England (he's an Australian expat in Canada soon to be in England) and so as my graduation neared and job opportunities started to present themselves, it was a quick choice that we were moving to England.
